Su Zhong Garment factory workers said that more than 200 of more than 400 workers who are manufacturing bpc and RESERVED international brands apparels are working the same tasks with the permanent workers despite of not getting assess to legal benefits and leaves.
The factory which locates at No.(36), Min Kyaw Swar Street, Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township is owned by a Chinese national. And the workers address the labor right abuses such as not appointing the day laborers who have more than 3 months of service as permanent workers, asking excessive fabric outputs, not giving legal benefits and leaves and verbally abusing in the workplace.

Daily wages 4,800 kyats, allowance stipend 1,000 kyats and attendance bonus 10,000 kyats are cut as when they don’t come to job as they are not entitled to leaves.
The workers also said that there is neither trade union nor workplace disputes resolvents.
“There are more than 200 day laborers in the factory which is more than half of the whole population of the factory. They day laboreres who have more than 3 months of service are not appointed as permanent laborers. They have many suffers as they don’t get assess to the legal leaves and fire immediately after missing a day of work,” said the workers.
All the workers in the workplace don’t get assess to legal leaves and cut 4,800 kyats daily wages, 10,000 kyats attendance bonus and allowance 1,000 kyats for taking leave a day.
And the workers said that the employer is asking impossible fabric outputs from the workers such as 60 fabric piece per cavity with 50 workers.
“We can’t finish the fabrics no matter how much we work continuously without a break to drink water and go to toilet. The all supers and supers together with the HR and Chinese interpreters who interferes into the cavities verbally abuse us for not meeting the employer’s demanded targets. The workers who reacted are fired so that no one dare to complaint more and keep silent,’ said the worker.
The workers want resolvents upon the factory not forming work place collation committee and not providing clean toilets.
The workers’ appeals are the employer to appoint the day laboers with more than 3 months of service as a permanent worker, the HR and interpreters not to verbally abuse the workers, the employer to allow legal casual and medical leaves and not to demand more than the workers can sew.
