“Law can’t be practiced everywhere” said the chief officer of the Hlaing Thar Yar Township Department of Labour

Workers said that the chief officer of the Hlaing Thar Yar Township (western) Department of Labour failed to address the workers’ lost and damages and avoiding with various reasons. Workers also stated that the chief officer said that law can’t be practiced everywhere.

“It is not the right thing to point out the employment contract. I know all these law and law can’t be practiced everywhere. If you know too much, you can take my place to solve these matters,” the chief officer said.

The current chief officer of the Hlaing Thar Yar Township Department of Labour is U Tin Maung Htoo.

 Myanmar Jiale Fashion Co.,Ltd -2 garment factory workers said that they were shouted and the officer avoided with various reasons whenever they inquiry them about the cases they complaint.

Workers said that U Tin Maung Htoo hasn’t respond to them about the request of forming a worker organization with 55 members, a case they request to the chief officer of the Hlaing Thar Yar Township (eastern) Department of Labour and handed to U Tin Maung Htoo afterwards.

“They don’t check our forms and neither give us the form (6). We are ignored. They said they are busy whenever we ask but no process,” said a worker.

The Myanmar Jiale Fashion Co.,Ltd-2 garment factory was reported on June 17th for violating the Employment Contract due to not providing transportation, not giving equal rights to workers in overtime and fabric points setting and forcing workers to move to other departments without their consents on July 1st. The workers said that U Tin Maung Htoo is avoiding to handle the case by yelling the workers whenever they inquire and giving various reasons. 

“We complaint for violating the Employment Contract. They scheduled but no processes and it is still negotiating,” said a labor activist.

Myanmar Labour News has learnt that Myanmar Jiale Fashion Co.,Ltd -2 garment factory locates at the Bamaw Atwin Wun street, Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon and hires more than 400 workers.
