STUM state HONG MIAO Garment Co. Ltd which locates at No.4 Road, Thar Du Kan Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar Township, Yangon as the factory with the highest violation of labor rights.

It is also reported that workers who formed a union to collectively solve workplace problems were fired from their jobs with the reasons that the employer saying not having orders. There are many violations of labor rights at the factory, and the workers formed a union to solve the problems at work and applied to the head office, but there was no inspection and no form was given.

According to the labour list of the 48 workers that formed the union, the head office informed the employer and began to expel the workers from the union one by one. It is reported that the 2 layoffs at first, 9 layoffs later and the 41 layoffs on September 18th caused union labours to be laid off for the reason that there were no orders.

“Nothing clears up the problem. It is only aimed at getting fired without solving. Form 6 is not given to form a union. The labours were fired on the pretext that there was no order. The people who were fired, were unknown unless the labour office inform. All people from the Line 2 are union members. Those who were removed from the other line were also people from the union. The 9 people prior are also people from the union. The head office gave the list of people to the employer, and the employer removed them according to this list. Removing Line 2 by saying there were no orders. People from line 2 are sent to other lines 3 and 4. But the rewards from that line were not given to people from line 2. If they let Line 3 go, Line 3 labours must receive the same as the other labours, and we also sent a letter saying that they can't pay less more than gapping one hundred thousand. A lot of violations. The main thing is firing all 48 people in the union, from 1 to 48, which is the most serious violation," said the person helping the labours.

That factory It is also said to be a factory that manufactures Hello and FieldCore brands.

“After 48 members of the union were fired, the three heads from the Office of Labour Guidance, Labour Office and Office of Workshop and Labor Law Inspection Department met with the labours when the employer's labor problem broke out. They kicked out all the labours, put the three union leaders in, and slammed the doors shut. And the owner did not sign on the agreement. The owner will remove the entire line where they were union members. He would remove it and make sure it will be mixed in the rest of the places. There is a super one among those fired. The employer didn't sign it, HR signed it. This morning, when I entered the factory, I don't know what all the heads of departments were talking about. The employer said that if Line 2 is not cancelled, no one will enter. The contract does not delete the line. Temporary replacement where necessary. The labours also asked why they had to cancel this line and work on other lines. The labours were fired on the grounds that there was no order," said the helper.

"The entrepreneur has agreed to the request of the labours. The head of Office of Labour Guidance cannot be satisfied that it is already convenient. He again asked to go to the place according to the needs of the business. It is no longer the era where he has to agree. It is not only the employers who are involved in violations. It is said that the heads of the divisions are also present." He continued to say.

The fired labours have returned to work, but negotiations will continue for many other violations.

On September 21, STUM urged that it is time to protest to the GSP of the European Union and condemned the ignorant actions of the Garment Manufacturers Association MGMA as the labours of the factory were working in a bad workplace due to the water entering the factory, and the lives of the labours were considered priceless due to the investments of the inhumane employer.
