According to the labours, the Full Win Safety garment factory, which operates with more than 500 workers, is working under conditions that violate labours’ rights. The factory operates in U Tun Nyo Street, Industrial Zone 4, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon.

In this workplace, the rights are violated as the working hours are from 7:15 am to 8:45 pm, and being forced to take OT free of charge if the demand for more than the individual labours can handle is not met, have to go to OT on weekends without the right to refuse, being shout by abusive words in the workplace, health issues, ferry issue, and the lacking of vacation and holiday benefits that are available under labor law according to the labours

The labours said that there is no solution from the factory side regarding such violations and that they are working tirelessly to solve the livelihood crisis due to the high goods prices they are currently facing.

It is reported that the factory is owned by a Chinese citizen and is exporting the DeFacto, Reserved and So Cute brand.

When asking the garment labours for the standard of sewing, they asked for up to 35 pieces of over-bought fabric per hour. The labours said that if the work is not completed on time, they will have to pay overtime and work for free without paying for overtime.

"It is difficult to manufacture over-bought fabric. It is difficult to meet the standards demanded by the employer. They say that the order is important and force them to come down overnight, all night long. They don't have to go down continuously. Even if they ask them to come down 24 hours a day, they force the workers to come down continuously without taking a break. If one refuse overtime, she would be discriminated against, slandered, and we won't dare to say anything," said the worker who is experiencing it himself.

As a labour suffering from this violation, it is not convenient for him to disclose his name, position, and machine line due to livelihood and security conditions.

The labour said that those who have to work overtime have been working non-stop since the April Thingyan period, and also forced to work on days like Sunday, which is a public holiday, and day of religious significance without a chance to deny.

It is also known that they were scolded and shout rudely by the supervisor who is also the leader of the worker, If they try to defy this unfair servitude.

In addition, they are not entitled to the legal benefits, medical leave, and if they miss a day of work due to health issues, they will be cut 4,800 kyats of daily wages, 20,000 kyats of attendance bonus, so, a total of 24,800 kyats.

"They told the wages of labours will be raised to 5,600 kyats on the 15th of the 8th month. But if we do not meet the standards, we have to work the overtime for free to meet the record. This is exploiting us”, said the unsatisfied labour.

The labours also said that not only they are being exploited but also facing the inconvenience conditions such as toilet issues, cleanliness issues and farry issues.
