The workers from Myanmar Sunview Garment (Solamoda Group) factory which locates at Min Aeyar Street, Shwe Than Lwin Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township said that the factory is abusing labor rights by asking excessive fabric output, forcing to work for free in Sundays and not giving access to leaves.

There are more than 800 workers in the factory and there are neither trade union nor workplace coordination committee.

The brands manufacturing currently are SERVO brands fabrics.

The workers said that the factory called overtime until 8:30 for the whole January 2024 and until 6:30 p.m in February and the all supers are verbally abusing the workers if they don’t finish the outputs they asked excessively.

“The cavity feels like a hell and some workers even accidently hit their hand with needle only if they hear their voice, look how rude are they,”

The workers have to submit application to supers and all supers whether leave or gate pass they would take and they are not get easily as they worried about the standards.

“They give leave when we asked from the managers directly and later all supers made us difficult to take leave and they give us only when those who understands the labor law among us said we would report,” said the worker.

The workers also said they want back date calculation for the Sunday overtime fees as they were not paid before.

“The manager promotes the workers those who are comfortable with them and demote after 3 months if he doesn’t like. Actually, he should consider first before promotion because workers who demoted will find difficult to work. There is no one to resolve these situations,” said the worker.

The workers said that they want to request to give Sunday overtimes with a back date, to check all requirements before promotion and not to demote after promoted, to give gate pass easily if they have proper reason and the officials to restrict the all supers and supers from verbal abuse,” said the workers.
