Kingrich Myanmar factory said workers will not get paid for protesting period and negotiations followed

It is said that Kingrich Myanmar factory said that workers will not get paid for protesting days and it was written at the report of WCC team’s meeting on October 7.

“Workers asked to get paid for the protesting days and the factory ask the workers to go back to work tomorrow. It is at the negotiating state,” a worker said.

The work stoppage protests began on October 7 and the officials from Labour office, trade union, WCC and factory officials are negotiating on October 9.

“Workers asked for 12,000 kyats per day. They get paid only 7,500 kyats for now. They also asked for other benefits. The factory owner denied by saying that they were already raised in June,” said a female worker.

A worker said that the supervisors are forcing new workers to work by intimidating them.

“All super Daw Ei Ei Win who manage from line 1 to 6 intimidate the workers with less than 3 months of service to work by saying that they will be blacked list in other factories as well. They said we are get paid well and don’t spend wisely,” said a worker.

Kingrich Myanmar garment factory hires nearly 1,400 workers and only 88 workers missed to participated in the work stoppage protestings and most of them are supervisors and leaders.

The factory is owned by a Chinese national and located at Yay Pyar Bus-Stop, Than Chat Wun U Nyunt Road, Industrial Zone 2, Shwe Pyi Thar Township, Yangon region.
