I am writing to submit a report regarding Jin Shi Yuan Garment Factory.
Although the official start time is 8:00 a.m., if we arrive later than 7:50 a.m., the factory cancels the 800 kyats OT payment that is normally paid after 4:30 p.m., and instead pays only 1,200 kyats for overtime.
The normal overtime rate is 2,000 kyats per hour. 800 kyats is deducted from this amount.
The factory toilets are extremely dirty (photos attached). Workers may suffer from diarrhea and other illnesses if this continues.
The factory is known as Jin Shi Yuan and is also called Hkam San Yone 4. The exact address is No. 29, Kyauk Sein Road, Thadukan Industrial Zone, Shwepyitha Township, directly opposite the Harmite toy factory.
On Saturdays, other factories usually finish work at 4:30 p.m., but at this factory we are required to work until 6:30 p.m. Our regular working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
On Saturdays, we are almost always required to work until 6:30 p.m.
The toilets are extremely dirty and have been left unrepaired. Every time we need to use the toilet, it causes us distress.
We do not know whether there is a WCC organization in the factory.
There are seven production lines in the factory. Each line has around 60 sewing workers, and there are three supervisors.
The factory owner is Chinese.
The garments being produced are export items.
