Trade Unions became weak on operating on-ground about the factories labours issues due to suppressions and crack downs after the military-coup.
Also, there were intimidates and restricts from the factories upon forming trade unions as known from the labours.The labours don’t have freedom for any movement for the time being and being intimidated and pressured about firing and called the Junta forces to arrest.
The cavity supers and leaders from Yangon Fukuyama Apparel (YFA) garment factory form War Ta Yar industrial zone, Shwe Pyi Thar intimidated individually to the labours who are interested in forming a trade union and also called a meeting to intimidate the whole factory with microphone.
It is also known that the factory didn’t approve the labours a gate pass to go out to register the union on August 8.This is a publicly restrictions by the employers upon the freedom rights of forming a union.
“Factories are openly restricting the rights of labours forming a union. YFA factory didn’t even approve the gate pass to register the union. And in Hosheng, the labours were not arrested for demanding 5600 MMK for daily wages. It started from firing the leaders for trying to form a union. The employers don’t want the trade organizations.”, said by an activist.
7 labour leaders from Hosheng Myanmar were fired for trying to form a union. The employer called the Junta forces as the labours stroked for those 7 labours. Total 13 people: 10 labours and 2 members from supporting team were arrested and being detained in the In Sein Prison.
By looking at this, the employers, officials and the Junta continues to restrict of forming the labour unions, a special commission of inquiry is compilating the data about the issues of violating the ILO Provision 84, which is violating the rights of forming trade unions in Myanmar.
Although the Junta announced that all the labour unions are allowed freely in the whole country, Hlaing Thar Yar and Shwe Pyi Thar townships having the most numbers of labour forces are restricted with the reason of Martial Law and arrested garment labours of Hosheng.
