H&M brand manufacturing TongYing factory forcing the workers to work 20  days continuously by calling substitute day for Thingyan holidays

Workers from TongYing garment factory which locates at Myaung Ta Kar (Phaye Khin) Industiral Zone, Mawbe Township, Yangn region said that the factory force them to work substitute for the Thingyan holidays on Sunday by pressurizing them to sign an agreement and which makes them to work 20 days continuously without an off day.

The workers said that they have many things suffer as they have to work substitute on Sundays. They refuse to sign the agreement but the all supers force them in various ways. The all supers lied them that every one have signed except them and force them exactly three times. The all super said that they have to work on 11th and 12th of April and have to come with their own plan if they don’t want to sign.

The workers can’t effort to come with their own plans and they want to take a leave a day as they already worked hard on the other days.

“Although there is Thingyan Holiday, no one wants to work continuously for 20 days. They calls those who don’t sign and force them and we have no choice but to do that as everyone there is pressurizing us including the all supers and supers. The former factory manager always asked our consents for these issues but the current one never did,” said the worker.

The workers said that they told the factory that they would work half day on Saturday without taking overtime wages instead of working on Sunday but the factory doesn’t accept.

According to the knowledges of Myanmar Labour News, TONG YING HK (garment) factory is manufacturing H&M brand apparels with more than 5,000 workforce for several years.
