Galaxy (Myanmar) factory violating labour rights

According to the Myanmar General Federation of Trade Unions FGWM, the Chinese man, the owner of the Galaxy (Myanmar) factory which locates in Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon, demands an increase in fabric standards from the labours by hitting the machine seat in the workplace.

According to FGWM it is known that the Chinese owner of Galaxy (Myanmar) Garment Factory manage the labours directly., hitting the machine with his hand, asking for a record and screaming and also throwing nearby things upon his temper. The factory locates in Seik Kan Thar Road, Hlaing Thar Yar Industrial Zone.

In addition, including the employer, super, Interpreters and pregnant women are also asked to work hourly along with other workers. FGWM has fired that workers who can't meet the demands by giving a notice. Those were badly treated and new labours were hire to replace them.

It is also written that the labours also said that "There is no permanent appointment of day workers who have completed 3 months of service. They said the order must be completed by September 24th. The line which can’t complete would be given notice. But on September 25th when the orders were accomplished, all the day laborers were fired.”

Galaxy (Myanmar) factory labours do not get casual leave, If they take one day of self-sufficiency medical leave, they got a deduction of 20,000 MMK per day and attendance bonus 40,000 MMK is cut if a single leave is taken, The labours said that they are experiencing fainting conditions.

Galaxy (Myanmar) factory has 7 sewing machine lines and operates with more than 350 workers. It is known for manufacturing American and Spanish backpack brands such as ROLY Working Body Guard.
