Factory workers who live in dormitories are having difficulties to purchase edible oil which is being sold to permit book holders by wards.

The SAC is selling edible oils via the wardens and each house hold can purchase only 50 kyatthars (0/8 kg) with permit book. The permit books are sold to the household registration members and reported guests.

“I told other person to buy the edible oil with the card but for now the people in guest registration had to buy themselves and sign for so it is not convenient for me. We are cut for daily wages, attendance bonus and fabric fee for a day off. It is not convenient for us to buy ourselves,” said a factory worker who live in dormitory.

The oil sellers are selling other materials with the grounds of change difficulties and some times doesn’t return the change and also cheated in the amount of oil sold.

“The paper said we can start buying at 6:00 am. I went to buy at 8:00 but they actually started selling at 10:30 am. I have to go twice and it was the first time experience. I need a permit from the market although I have the edible oil purchasing book and permit. They refused to sell after I had queue for a long time. Citizens are not helping to each other in the crisis,” said a person who faced difficulties in purchasing edible oil.

According to some wardens, they are negotiation for the dorm owners to be able to buy the oil for the dorm rent workers in some wards.
