It is said that the employer of Gysen Myanmar garment factory from Watayar Road, Watayar Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar township had to signed commitment at the Department of Labour office to eliminate the supervisors verbal and discrimination abuse on subordinates.
The incident happed on September 2, 2024 when the workers who are not satisfied of being verbally abused by the supervisor at the meeting held by the Packing in-charge when they asked questions to clarify themselves reported to the Department of Labour, Shwe Pyi Thar Township.
The employer was summoned for the first time on September 5 and had to signed commitment at the Department of Labour office to eliminate the supervisors verbal and discrimination abuse on subordinates and to take accountability and responsibility.
The supervisors and HR stuffs forced more than 500 workers to hide at Gysen 3 garage when the inspectors visited the factory on August 25, 2024 after complaints about calling overtime on Sundays. Some workers were injured during the incident.
The factory is located at Watayar Road, Watayar Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar township and has been operating for around 4 years and currently hires 700 workers. The employer dismiss more than 50 workers including legally formed trade union members on the grounds of layoffs on April 10, 2024.
