It is reported that workers from Kingsrich (MYANMAR) Fashion Limited which located at Yay Pyar Street, Ward 18, Shwe Pyi Thar Township, Yangon said that employer fails to deliver on pay raise which they verbally promised when the whole workers in factory stopped the work and protested for a raise.

The whole factory stopped the work and protested for a basic wage raise on June 10th and the employer verbally agreed to give 7,500 kyats daily wage and 2,000 kyats overtime per hour without a contract.

“There nothing updated. It was verbally agreed to give 7,500 kyats daily wage and 2,000 kyats overtime per hour without a contract. But they said they are afraid of pay raise. They will pay 2,000 kyats overtime per hour on days off. Some workers signed that paper and some don’t,” said a person who is close to the workers.

The next day, it was learned that some workers signed and some did not because it is a subsidy, not an increase in basic wages.

The factory is a factory with more than a thousand workers manufacturing the H&M brand.

There is no trade union in the factory instead workers collectively demanded their needs. The factory take advantage of the fact that there is no worker leader to lead the negotiation by primarily agreeing verbally without a contract and later failed to raise the basic wage.

The workers are being monitored in the factory since than and the rules are tighter than before in the machine lines.
