According to the Solidarity Trade Unions of Myanmar (STUM), the labour dispute between telecom operator Ooredoo (now U9) and a former FTTH Senior Manager has been amicably settled at Kamaryut District Court, with both parties agreeing to drop the case unconditionally.
The dispute arose after the employee, who had served as an FTTH Senior Manager for four years, was dismissed by Ooredoo without severance pay, in violation of the Employer-Employee Coordination (EC) agreement, according to STUM.
The employee was reportedly terminated without prior notice and was denied legally entitled benefits, which led to the legal dispute.
Attempts to resolve the matter at the relevant township labor department failed, prompting the worker to file a lawsuit on August 16, 2024, at Kamaryut District Court.
Now, nearly a year later, the case was officially withdrawn on the 29th hearing, held on August 27, 2025, after both employer and employee reached a mutual settlement with no conditions.
Additionally, STUM confirmed that U Thaung Han, a senior electrical engineer (S1) who had worked at the Pepsi beverage factory for eight years, also settled a labour lawsuit through mutual agreement.
This case involved compensation for unlawful dismissal. U Thaung Han was dismissed on October 31, 2022, and filed his lawsuit three years later seeking severance pay.
After failing to resolve the matter through the Ministry of Labor's negotiation channels, he filed the lawsuit on June 16, 2023, at Hmawbi District Court.
