The Chauk oil field is an area known for the Year 1300 Uprising. However, even after the septuagesimo-quinto anniversary of the Oil Field Uprising and approaching the centenary, labor rights violations are still rising alarmingly and sadly.

The background of the casues

1 Political instability

2 Lack of employment

3 Lack of knowledge

4 Influence of conservative ideas.

1 - Political instability

Currently, it is a good time for employers who tend to exploit due to political situations. In years past, during the civilian government, trade unions and other supporting organizations were relatively powerful, and employers did not dare to repress them badly. Today, due to the military council and businessmen working together to oppress, the number of rights violations has increased exponentially.

2 - Lack of employment

Myanmar, which is a developing country, has a shortage of job opportunities. Although there are enough jobs in big cities such as Yangon and Mandalay, there are very few jobs in (b) level and (c) level townships. According to the country's situation, small and medium industries are still not widespread. In the cities, there are only a few government departments and foreign companies, so they are disproportionate to the workforce. Most of the young people have to work mainly in shops, restaurants and sales centers. There is even a favorite of employers who want to exploit labor there. Some workers know that it is unfair, but they have to work tirelessly for the sake of their livelihood.

3 - Lack of knowledge

Due the country's education system, small townships are still not developed and there are only few people who know their rights. They don't know basic wages, social security benefits, and other rights, and they don't even know where to file a complaint if their rights are violated.

4 - Influence of conservative ideas

This is interconnected with the points mentioned above. In less developed regions, there is a large majority of conservatives. It is obvious that new ideas, new challenges, and reforms cannot be accepted. Therefore, people have narrow visions and they no longer recognize injustice as injustice, and don't th

ink about resisting it due to the fear of dismissal. This fact is also a favorite of those who like to exploit.

For example a worker’s basic salary is 148,000 kyats but they only get paid for 70,000 or 80,000 kyats although they worked for 11 or 12 hours a day without a holiday.

In addition, salaries are cut and fired for taking a leave with whatever reason.

Workers still have no rights and have to work for very low wages, but they are severely punished if they were to. There are also some employers who do not sympathize with female workers. They usually take a cut of two or three times the amount of a day's wages when the workers take leave for family or health issues.

They also dismiss the workers only by their consents.

Those exploiters donate large sums of money to religious and social issues, often claiming to be donors. Many people only looked at that fact and respected and ignored the injustice of those people.

In summary, it can be considered that the above deviations are due to deterioration and low development in the country. To protect the violation of labor rights as above, it is necessary to share knowledge and provide support to individuals and organizations, and take action against the perpetrators as an example. It is written with the aim of making everyone aware of and respecting the inherent human rights of every human being.
