Asking 700 fabric pieces within 10 working hours, workers working without access to legal leaves

YOYIKA GARMENT CO..LTD factory which locates at No (339), Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township is a factory owned by a Chinese national which is manufacturing natural plus and as-ideal brands shirts with more than 600 workers. The workers said that they want to the factory to ask only the possible fabric output from them as they are currently asking 700 fabric pieces within 10 working hours.

“The factory is asking 700 garments pieces within 10 working hours from the cavities with around 40 workers, all supers and supers verbally abusing for not meeting the fabric targets, workers who sometimes sworn fabrics that failed qc tests while working continuously to meet the targets are forced to sign warnings,” said the workers.

The day laborers with more than 6 months of service are not appointed as permanent workers and they are suffering as they are get paid only 3,600 kyats per day while being assigned the same tasks with other workers.

The worker ask resolvents upon the issues that they are not entitled to legal casual, medical and social security leaves although they contributed in the social security fees. 

It is also known that the workers are cut by 5,800 kyats daily wages and 35,000 kyats attendance for missing a day because of not getting a leave.

No janitor is hired and the workers can only go back home after doing the janitorial jobs of the cavities by rotating. There is no trade union formed in the factory to address the labor disputes.

The workers said that they want to request to give them legal leaves, to appoint day laborers who have more than 3 months of service as permanent stuffs and the all supers and supers to not verbally abuse them while asking for the fabric targets.
