A Chinese employee from MK garment factory sexually harass female workers

A Chinese employee from MK leather factory which is a sub factory of Myanmar GiGi Leather Goods Manufactory is physically harassing, told by the female workers to Myanmar Labour News.

 

“That Chinese guy touch the hands and shoulders, twist the cheeks, stroke the hairs while female workers are working. He usually pinch, scratch and rub the hands too.”, said by a female worker.

 

Physically harassment is a sexually assaulting as per international and it does include rubbing, pinching, kissing, hugging and other inappropriate behaviors, told by an anonymous gender expert.

 

MK leather factory is located in the corner of Thar Du Kan street and Pearl street, Thar Du Kan industry zone, Shwe Pyi Thar township, Yangon and reportingly known that the owner is a PRC citizen.

 

There are 4 Chinese experts in the factory and it is manufacturing Michel Kors leather wallet brands and others, said by the workers.

 

“That one Chinese officer physically assaulting is a thing and the next is another Chinese guy washing his shoes at drinking tap and basin.”

 

Their behaviors towards the women are unacceptable but unable to react due to worrying about reaching the standards, job and income, told by the workers.

 

A female worker continues to tell that “Even the cavities seniors to be afraid of the Chinese officers. It is usually stated that they can fire us immediately. We are unable to response when they harass while for us was striving to reach the standard. Also much more demanding the hourly standard”.

 

Reaching the hourly standard is leading to increase the standard more in the next hour.

 

 She also told that even the pregnant women who is working in more effortless position are being forced to reach the standard.

 

“They force all the workers inside the factory for that, no except for even the pregnant women. Some can’t finish till 5 minutes before the time off”.

 

Employees for MK factory is interviewed and applied from Myanmar GiGi Leather Goods Manufactory and there are around 30 foreign employees total combined the two factories.

 

It is noted that foreign workers are Indians, Philippines and Chinese.

 

The Chinese are making the female employees cry daily by yelling recklessly and shouting with angers.

 

 “Women would be embarrassed for getting pointed and shouted, also the others looking them. Some cry and some sob. They don’t want to resign too. There are many ones tearing out daily. If so, the Chinese ask why and tell to continue the work.”, said by a factory labor.

 

The MK factory labors also stated that they are forcing to change cavity and factory without their desire.

 

Although they signed to work anywhere inside the factory, being moved to another factory completely different is a difficulty for the labors, said by a one who is moved.

 

“I was moved to work at GiGi factory from MK, some for a couple of days but some forever. The factories are completely different in methods and products.”, said by a female worker who has been moved.

 

There is no said in advanced for the workers to move from MK but to immediately move if they told to.

 

Those situations are inconvenient for them as Myanmar GiGi often told no need and not used to in the new workplace, told by that woman.

 

The workers form MK factory report to Myanmar Labour News that those inconveniences harm them mentally and cause them up to resignation.
