I would like to make an inquiry to Myanmar Labour News.
I am a bank employee, and many of us are currently facing hardships.

Banks have introduced a “7-day banking” system, requiring staff to work continuously without rest days. I would like to know if such a practice is legally recognized in Myanmar.

In some banks, employees are even required to work on weekends without receiving any overtime pay. We often leave the office only at 7:30 or 8 PM even though the banks close at regular hours.
I’m wondering if all of this is in line with Myanmar’s labour laws.

We were informed that work hours would only be until 6 PM during interviews with HR. But in reality, we end up leaving much later—around 7:30 or 8 PM.

Currently, banks have also started opening on Saturdays and Sundays, assigning staff in rotating shifts.
Normally, banks are supposed to open only from Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
We still receive the same salary as before despite now working all seven days and even on public holidays when government offices are closed.

How can bank employees report or seek help when we are being unfairly pressured in this way?
Please kindly guide us.
