Workers at the Handa 2 factory are reportedly carrying out a collective demand action. The demands began on March 6, and workers have submitted 10 points of demands, according to a statement released by the Federation of General Workers Myanmar (FGWM).
The workers are demanding that legal leave rights be granted, that garment piece rates be paid according to production output, that piece rates be increased, that the daily wage be raised to 12,000 kyats and overtime pay to 2,500 kyats, and that the attendance bonus be increased to 60,000 kyats. The 10 demands also include reducing the workload and providing considerate treatment for pregnant workers.
The action began with Line (2) from among three production lines on Friday (March 6). It is reported that the factory did not negotiate and instead issued a notice on March 10, 2026 dismissing 21 workers who led the demands.
On March 11, the 21 worker leaders were not allowed to enter the factory, but worker demands are reportedly continuing inside the workplace, according to a statement by the Federation of General Workers Myanmar (FGWM).
The Handa 2 factory is one of four factories under the Handa Group and employs more than 3,000 workers. It is reportedly a Chinese citizen-owned factory and a member factory of the MADE project, operating at the corner of U Shwe Bin Road and U Myu Road in Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon.
